Supporting Young Talent in the Modern Eventing Sport
With the Oldenburg Cross-Country Horse Championship, the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association has launched a new event format specifically aimed at eventing horses. The focus is on young eventing horses, whose training and development in modern eventing is to be supported.
Competition Format and Qualification
The championship includes eventing horse competitions in classes E to L and is open to horses of all breeds; both riding horses and ponies are eligible. The event offers riders and trainers optimal conditions for introducing young talents to competitive sport.
The Class A and Class L tests also serve as qualifiers for the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf. The top three 5-year-old Oldenburg horses in the Class A competition and the top three 6-year-old Oldenburg horses in the Class L competition will be specially honoured during the championship ceremony. The breeders of the successfully placed horses will also receive honorary prizes.
Another component of the championship is the Mare Performance Test for versatile mares, which is also held as part of the event.
Framing Program and Services
The event is aimed equally at riders and breeders. With commentary on the rides and an expert team of judges, the championship also offer informative added value for spectators.
The tournament takes place on the grounds of the Weser-Ems Equestrian Association (PSVWE) training centre in Vechta under suitable conditions.
Purpose and Significance
With the Oldenburg Cross-Country Horse Championship, the association is responding to the growing importance of eventing and creating a targeted opportunity to promote athletically versatile horses bred in Oldenburg.
