Showcase for Oldenburg breeding – State Championships in Höven

The Oldenburg State Championships are among the most important events in the Oldenburg Horse Breeding Association's annual calendar. From 2026, this special event will begin a new chapter: the State Championships and the Elite Mare Show will take place in Höven in future. Year after year, the facility there becomes a stage for the best horses from Oldenburg breeding – a highlight for breeders, riders and horse enthusiasts.

Breeding Meets Sport – a Stage for Quality

For the Oldenburg Association, the State Championships are much more than a sporting event: they are the sporting showcase for Oldenburg breeding. Hardly any other event demonstrates so impressively how closely successful breeding work and sporting success are linked.

Whether at the riding horse championships, the dressage and show jumping championships or the Oldenburg Elite Mare Show – in Höven, the quality, rideability and potential of our horses can be seen and experienced.

Special attention is paid to the riding horse championships, where 3- and 4-year-old Oldenburg horses are selected for the National Championships in Warendorf.

As part of the reform of the stallion performance test, HLP evaluation tests are also held, so that young breeding stallions can also make their sporting debut.

In addition, qualifications for the National Championships for dressage horses will continue to be held in Höven – further proof of the sporting significance of this event.

A Place of Importance for Breeders

For breeders, the State Championships are both a meeting place and a showcase: Here, offspring are presented in sporting competition, contacts are cultivated and exchanges with riders, trainers and potential buyers are intensified.
Success at the State Championships is often more than just a placing – it is a visible sign of breeding quality and can be an important springboard on the way to the big leagues.

Carrying on Tradition – Shaping the Future

The Oldenburg State Championships are deeply rooted in Oldenburg horse breeding and strengthen the sense of community within the association. They combine tradition and modern performance testing – and symbolise what the Oldenburg Association stands for: a passion for quality horses, breeding foresight and sporting excellence.
