Mare Performance Test – A Foundation for Breeding Success

The Mare Performance Test (SLP) is a key milestone in the breeding career of a broodmare. During this evaluation, rideability and basic gaits are assessed under standardized conditions, along with jumping ability in jumping and eventing-bred mares – providing a crucial performance record for both breeding and marketing.

Participation is not only a prerequisite for the awarding of the coveted Oldenburg Main Premium, but also a requirement for selection to the annual highlight for mares: the Elite Broodmare Show in Rastede.

Breeders benefit from an objective assessment of their mares' quality, as well as the opportunity to present their young mares in the best possible light. As at all official events, the mares are comprehensively described using linear profiling. After the evaluation, the linear data is available to breeders through the Oldenburg pairing programme, providing valuable support for future mating decisions.
