A thrilling bidding war, international demand, and a special award for breeder Gero Wanner
A debut with a special atmosphere: On Friday evening, the Oldenburg Elite Foal Auction at the Fichtenhof Classics, hosted by Andrea and Arnaud Petit, celebrated a successful debut. The spotlight was on Lot No. 5, Six Seven by Security – For Romance I – Sion, who was sold for the top price of 30,000 euros following a thrilling bidding duel.
This impressive dancer from the world-renowned Elfen line captivated the audience with three outstanding basic gaits and a cutting-edge appearance. His dam, Elfenzauber, is a sister to the licensed Florion OLD and to Sansibar’s Floryon, who enjoyed success in Prix St. Georges competitions. The wider family includes numerous licensed stallions and successful Grand Prix horses, among them the U.S. champion Elfenfeuer ridden by Alice Tarjan.
For the breeder of the top-priced horse, Gero Wanner, the auction evening turned out to be a special experience in two ways: Even before the auction began, the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Association honored him with the Badge of Honor for his exceptional breeding achievements.
The debut collection also generated significant interest internationally. Buyers from the Netherlands were particularly active, securing three promising young talents. Another elite foal will find a new home in the U.S., while one is headed to Switzerland.
The collection achieved total sales of 123,500 euros at an average price of 11,227 euros. The unique setting of the Fichtenhof Classics and the enthusiastic audience provided the perfect backdrop for an exciting auction evening and a successful blend of top-level sport, breeding, and marketing.
