Antonius Schulze-Averdiek Re-elected – Sandra Auffarth and Jan Wernke Appointed as Alternate Members
At the Delegates’ Assembly of the Oldenburg-International e.V. Show Jumping Horse Breeding Association on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta, the election of the Licensing Commission was among the items on the agenda.
Antonius Schulze-Averdiek, Rosendahl, was re-elected by the delegates to his position as licensing commissioner. Dirk Demeersman of Belgium was newly elected to the Licensing Commission. He succeeds the late Jan Vleugels, who served as licensing commissioner for many years.
With Dirk Demeersman, the OS Breeding Commission gains a proven horse expert who combines breeding expertise with experience as a top international athlete. The Belgian is a breeder and stallion owner and enjoyed many years of success in international show jumping. Demeersman competed in the Olympic Games three times, placing fourth in the individual competition in Athens in 2004 with Clinton and winning a team bronze medal at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. After his active career, he also served as the Belgian national team coach.
In case of absence, two additional high-caliber equestrians, Sandra Auffarth and Jan Wernke, were named as alternate members. Auffarth, an Olympic and world champion in eventing as well as a successful show jumper, was named Master Rider just last weekend at the Al Shira’aa Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. Wernke is an internationally successful show jumper, equine business manager, and instructor, and was the 2019 German runner-up in show jumping.
The licensing commission of the Oldenburg-International e.V. Show Jumping Horse Breeding Association now consists of Antonius Schulze-Averdiek, Toni Hassmann, Wilhelm Winkeler, and Dirk Demeersman, as well as breeding director Peer Eitenmüller. Sandra Auffarth and Jan Wernke serve as alternate members.
