four successful years as managing director and auction director, Roland Metz will leave the company on October 31, 2026, and assume the role of managing director of the Landesverband Bayerischer Pferdezüchter e.V. (Bavarian Horse Breeders’ Association) effective November 1, 2026.

His succession has already been arranged: Carsten Rotermund will take over as managing director of Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH. At the same time, he will remain a special representative on the board of the Association of Oldenburg Horse Breeders (Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes e.V.), thereby assuming a dual role within the Oldenburg organization. With his many years of experience in horse breeding, his comprehensive knowledge of the association’s structures, and his additional responsibility for marketing, Rotermund will in the future combine key areas of responsibility for both the association and the marketing company.

Carsten Rotermund is looking forward to his new role with great enthusiasm:

“I am very much looking forward to this new responsibility and to working with our dedicated team to further develop the successful marketing of Oldenburg horses. Our breeders and our customers can continue to rely on the highest level of professionalism, passion, and reliability. Together, we will continue on the successful path of Oldenburg Horse Marketing GmbH.”

Successful Growth Amid Challenging Conditions

The past few years have been marked by extraordinary challenges for Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH. The temporary lack of its own auction hall, a difficult economic environment, and a changing horse market demanded creative solutions and entrepreneurial courage. Together with the entire team, the company succeeded in maintaining auction operations without interruption while simultaneously establishing new marketing channels.

Significant strides were also made in marketing. With the auctions in Ankum and the highly acclaimed open-air auctions, Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH broke new ground. In addition, innovative formats such as foal auctions held as part of renowned equestrian events—including Horses & Dreams—allowed the company to reach new buyer groups and showcase the Oldenburg brand on additional platforms.

Roland Metz looks back on his time in Oldenburg with gratitude:

“The past few years have been intense, challenging, and at the same time very fulfilling. Together with an exceptionally dedicated team, our breeders, and our customers, we were able to further develop Oldenburg’s marketing efforts and set important new directions. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for the trust they have placed in me.”

Seamless Transition and Close Coordination

The handover of management responsibilities is taking place in close coordination. Roland Metz and Carsten Rotermund have a trusting working relationship, ensuring continuity in management and a seamless transition.

Through his future dual role as managing director of Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH and as special representative of the board of the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Association (Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes e.V.), Carsten Rotermund will further strengthen the close integration between breeding, the association, and marketing. This consolidation of responsibilities streamlines decision-making processes and makes it possible to align the interests of breeders even more closely with the demands of the national and international horse market.

Roland Metz believes Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH is in good hands with his successor:

“Carsten Rotermund possesses in-depth knowledge and is thoroughly familiar with the association’s structures. I am very pleased to be able to hand over responsibility to him. I am convinced that Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH will continue on its successful path.”

For Carsten Rotermund, the focus is not only on continuity but also, in particular, on the further development of marketing. Proven formats will be strengthened while new opportunities are seized to successfully position Oldenburg horses in the market both nationally and internationally. The focus will continue to be on close collaboration with breeders, professional customer support, and modern, market-oriented marketing.

Roland Metz Takes on a New Role in Bavaria

Commenting on his new role, Roland Metz explains:

“For me, the move to Bavaria is, in a way, a homecoming. The long-standing, trusting collaboration with Tobias Galmbacher, as well as the exciting prospects, convinced me to accept the offer from the Bavarian Horse Breeders’ Association (Landesverband Bayerischer Pferdezüchter e.V.). I am particularly looking forward to the diverse responsibilities of an association with its three traditional horse breeds and to actively helping shape the future of Bavarian horse breeding.”

In closing, Roland Metz thanks the shareholders, employees, breeders, and the numerous customers, exhibitors, and partners for their trusting collaboration over the past years and wishes Oldenburger Pferde Vermarktungs GmbH continued success.
