A strong showing by the young Oldenburg horses at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden: Two OLD horses in each of the five- and six-year-old dressage horse categories have advanced to the finals. Global Amour OLD and Weihe’s Happiness OLD will represent Oldenburg in the five-year-old division, while Viva Diamond OLD and Lodovico OLD will compete in the six-year-old final.

Two OLD Finalists Among the Five-Year-Olds

Among the five-year-old dressage horses, Weihe’s Happiness OLD was already in medal form during the qualifiers. Born in 2021, this daughter of Dynamic Dream out of the elite mare Weihe’s Hope by Sir Donnerhall-Don Schufro-Sandro Hit—bred and owned by Christine Arns-Krogmann of Lohne—danced her way to the bronze medal under Alina Schneider.

Weihe’s Happiness OLD already boasts an impressive track record: At the Oldenburg Elite Mare Show in Rastede, she secured the reserve title and won gold at the National Championships for four-year-old riding horses in Warendorf. Her granddam is the Oldenburg multi-champion Weihegold OLD, who paraded as the champion mare in Rastede’s Schlosspark in 2008 and, among other achievements, won team gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Global Amour OLD is the second Oldenburg horse in the final for five-year-olds. Born in 2021, this son of Global Player out of the El./StPrSt. Amelie by El.H. Fürstenball—bred by Britta Budeus-Wiegert of Groß Nemerow and owned by Helgstrand Dressage A/S of Denmark—impressed under Alexander Yde Helgstrand with a fourth-place finish in the qualifier.

The licensed stallion changed hands for 170,000 euros during the Oldenburg Stallion Days in Ankum. His dam line is also top-class: His grandmother, El./St.Pr.St. Auguste Victoria, was awarded the 1d prize at the Elite Mare Show in Rastede. Her half-brothers include the licensed stallions San Amour I and II, as well as Sacre Coeur by Sandro Hit, who has enjoyed success at the S-level.

OLD Duo Also in the Six-Year-Old Final

The Oldenburgs also have reason to look forward to the finals among the six-year-old dressage horses. Riding under Linda Weiß, Viva Diamond OLD impressed with a fifth-place finish in the qualifier. Born in 2020, this daughter of the Elite Stallion Vitalis out of the Elite Mare Zauberhaft by Don Diamond was bred by Zuchthof Alberding in Essen and is owned by 360° Sportpferde in Duisburg.

Viva Diamond OLD had already drawn attention at the Oldenburg Elite Mare Show in Rastede, where she was awarded the 1c premium. Her dam, Zauberhaft, also boasts successful offspring, including the S-level-successful Don Lucatoni by Dimaggio and Verona Diamond OLD by Vivaldi.

Lodovico OLD secured the second Oldenburg final spot among the six-year-olds. The Lord Europe son, born in 2020, out of Mispel by Don Frederic—bred by Wieghaus-Vorwerk GbR, Neuenkirchen-Vörden, and owned by Amely Baroness von Buchholtz of Argentina—finished eleventh in the qualifier under Beatrice Hoffrogge.

Lodovico OLD is already heading to Verden with a major title under his belt: Last year, he was crowned National Champion of five-year-old dressage horses under Lena Hassmann. His granddam, El.St. Monita, also produced the licensed stallion Fire Jazz when paired with Fürst Jazz.

This means that at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, there are two OLD horses in the finals for both the five-year-olds and the six-year-olds—four opportunities for Oldenburg breeding on the international World Championship stage.
