As part of the Oldenburg State Championships powered by DERBY, the new Oldenburg dressage champions among three- to six-year-old dressage horses were determined on Sunday. In the various age classes, promising young talents impressed with outstanding movement quality and rideability.
OL Championship for 3-Year-Old Dressage Horses – Stallions, Riding Horse Class:
The title was won by Diamant d’Or, born in 2023, by Dynamic Dream out of Miss Vita II by El.H. Vitalis, bred by Wieghaus-Vorwerk GbR, Neuenkirchen-Vörden, owned by Flicka Ventures GmbH, and ridden by the Spaniard Santiago Damil.
Epic Zone PS, born in 2023, by Escanto PS out of the elite mare Secret Zone PS by Secret, bred by Gestüt Lewitz and owned by Gestüt Lewitz and Lone Boegh Henriksen, rode by Brandi Roenick, took second place. His dam, Secret Zone PS, produced the licensed Grey Tonic when paired with Grey Flanell. His granddam is none other than the Grand Prix-winning Zantana Rs2 OLD, born in 2014, by Glock’s Zonik N.O.P. out of the elite mare Sondra by Sir Donnerhall I, who produced, among others, the licensed stallions Fürst Zonik PS by Fürstenball—who has since won at the advanced level under Isabel Freese—and Debutant PS OLD by Deparon, who has already caused a sensation three times at the National Championships in Warendorf.
Third place went to Obsidian Cadillac, born in 2023, by Obsession Taonga out of VbPrSt. Dirty Dancing by De Niro, breeder: Laisbo Horses ApS, Denmark, owner: Karsten Schuck, ridden by David Taylor. His half-brother Jimilian by Jovian was also approved. Both were discovered during the Oldenburg Auctions at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta.
OL Championship for Four-Year-Old Dressage Horses—Mares and Geldings, Riding Horse Class:
Among the four-year-old dressage horses (mares and geldings), Pommery Look OLD, born in 2022, by Florida TN out of El./St.Pr.St. Pandora by Sir Donnerhall-Lavauzelle AA-Inschallah AA, bred and trained by Christine Arns-Krogmann, Lohne, took the top spot under Alina Schneider. Last year, this distinguished daughter of the 2020 Reserve Champion stallion was awarded the 1c premium at the Elite Mare Show. Her dam, El./St.Pr.St. Pandora, was awarded the 1e prize in the Brillantring class at the 2011 Elite Mare Show. She produced the licensed stallions Don de Niro by De Niro, Filou by For Romance I, First Man by For Romance II, and a son of Viva Gold OLD. Her daughter Passion by Grey Flanell was awarded the Oldenburg Main Premium qualification and is now competing successfully in Class S dressage tests, as is Perla Negra by Negro.
Princess Negra, born in 2022, by Santos out of OLHPrSt. Pajala Negra by Desperados, bred and trained by Christine Arns-Krogmann, Lohne, and Alina Schneider, won silver.
Bronze went to the gelding Soul Mate XT OLD, born in 2022, by San Amour I out of Flower Crown by El.H. Foundation, bred and trained by Dr. Stefan Tietje, Alfhausen, and presented by Sina Aringer. Last year, the gelding was awarded silver.
OL Championship for Four-Year-Old Dressage Horses—Stallions, Riding Horse Class:
Among the four-year-old stallions, Dynamite, born in 2022, by Debutant PS out of Fantasy by Feinrich, bred by Philipp Mücke, Moosburg, owned by Bollmoor Partner GmbH & Co. KG, and ridden by Brandi Roenick, triumphed.
Sir Thunder von Bellin, born in 2022, by Sir Donnerhall I out of Fulinda M by Armani, bred and owned by MJS Gestüt von Bellin GmbH & Co. KG, with Leonie Richter in the saddle, took home the silver medal. His dam, Fulinda M, also produced Freedom Freedea by Franklin, who paraded in the 2024 Elite Mare Show in the castle park at Rastede.
Detto d’Amore, born in 2022, by El.H. Dante Weltino out of Sandrina by Sandro Hit, breeder: Santiago-Jose Perez Damil, Sprockhövel, owner: Damil Ventures GmbH, rode to the bronze medal under the Spanish rider Jordi Cabre Munoz.
OL Championship for Five-Year-Old Dressage Horses, Class L Dressage Test:
The lap of honor at the Championship for Five-Year-Old Dressage Horses was led by the stunning Oldenburg stallion Dynamic Pur, born in 2021, by Dynamic Dream out of Finesse by Finest – Dancier, bred by: Wieghaus Vorwerk GbR, bred by: René Tebbel Stallion Station, Emsbüren, ridden by Friederike Tebbel. His dam’s full sister is currently competing successfully at the Prix St. Georges level. Additionally, the maternal line produced Legurio, ridden by Frank Sloothaak, who has enjoyed success in international show jumping competitions. His sire is the champion stallion Dynamic Dream, who has shaped modern dressage horse breeding in recent years with his offspring’s powerful movements.
Second place went to Be Epic, born in 2021, by Bonds out of Frederica by Florestan I, breeder and owner: Dr. Katharina Paschertz, Cloppenburg/Bethen, ridden by Maren Maier. Be Epic was showcased last year at the Elite Mare Show in the castle park in Rastede.
Third place went to Bella Morena, born in 2021, by Moreno out of Bonita Le Fleur by For Dance, breeder: Gerd Sosath, owner: Rosemarie Türnau, and Madita Rentz. In 2024, Bella Morena was celebrated on the Brillantring at the Elite Mare Show in the Rastede Castle Park. Her grandmother, Elite/StPrSt. Bonita, produced the licensed stallion Fine Future when paired with Federer.
OL Championship for Six-Year-Old Dressage Horses, Class M Dressage Test:
Among the six-year-old dressage horses in Class M, Globall (born 2020, by Global Player out of El./VbPrSt. Cardinale by El.H. Fürstenball – Sandro Hit) shone. Breeder: Arnold Wegbünder, Nordhorn; Owner: Helgstrand Dressage A/S, ridden by Eva Möller. His grandmother, the elite mare Casablanca, gave birth to the licensed stallions Lonken’s Fiandro by Fidertanz and the Grand Prix-winning Fürst Fabrice OLD by El.H. Fürstenball. His half-brother, Fürst zu Bentlage by Fidertanz, is also successful up to Intermediaire I.
Bon Bolero OLD, born in 2020, by Bon Vivaldi out of Finele by Fürst Romancier – Rubin-Royal, breeder: Matthias Alexander Krug, Butzbach, owner: Heinz Ahlers, Hatten, under the guidance of Eike Bewerungen, took home the silver. In 2023, the handsome bay was licensed at the Oldenburg Stallion Days in Vechta. The Grand Prize winner was a finalist at the National Championships as both a three- and four-year-old. As a three-year-old, he secured the title of Oldenburg State Champion; as a four- and five-year-old, he advanced to become Vice State Champion. Bon Bolero has already sired numerous elite auction foals for the Vechta auctions.
Weihforca OLD, born in 2020, by Fynch Hatton out of El./OLHPrSt. Weihdira by De Niro—Fürst Heinrich, bred and owned by Christine Arns-Krogmann of Lohne and Alina Schneider—celebrated her bronze medal win. Weihforca OLD paraded in 2024 on the Brillantring at the Elite Mare Show in the Rastede Castle Park. Her dam, Weihdira, had already produced the licensed Seattle by So Perfect, while her granddam, El./StPrSt Weihcine—a daughter of the legendary Weihegold OLD—produced not only the S-level successful Weihvirgin OLD by El.H. Vitalis but also the reserve champion of his licensing, Dodo Weihgand by Diamond Hit.
