The OLD Masters powered by Derby 2026 are entering their decisive phase: With the qualifying rounds in Vechta, Elmlohe, and Okel now complete, half of the series is already behind us. The first six finalists have secured their spots in the grand finale on October 3 in Vechta, once again impressively demonstrating the quality and versatility of the Oldenburg horse.
In recent weeks, Dalma Sia Ballante by Secret – Diamond Hit and Viva Romantic OLD by Vitalis – Don Romantic have proven themselves to be horses that are as successful in competition as they are promising for breeding. Noble Secret OLD by Secret – Sunny-Boy also made a strong impression. The mare was originally discovered at the Autumn Elite Riding Horse Auction in Vechta. Found Gody PS by Foundation – Vivaldi from Gestüt Lewitz also qualified; her dam line includes, among others, the successful Fasine OLD. Rounding out the current final field are Montale Black by Millennium – Swarovski and Jovianos by Jovian – Rubinstein, who was licensed for Oldenburg in 2023.
Many of the horses that have qualified so far already share a special history with the Oldenburg Association—whether through licensing, auctions, or successful mare performance tests. Above all, however, behind these successes are dedicated breeders who, with passion, expertise, and a keen eye for high-performance horses, lay the foundation for success in the sport. Without their work, there would be no horses for the major arenas of dressage and show jumping. It is precisely this combination of breeding, training, and sport that makes the OLD Masters so special and offers talented Oldenburg horses an attractive stage.
But the race for the remaining spots in the finals is still wide open: In Nörten-Hardenberg, Höven, and at the Anakenenhof, more pairs have the chance to qualify for the finals in Vechta.
The series was launched by the Oldenburg Breeders’ Association, which has been dedicated to promoting the Oldenburg horse for many years. A sponsor was secured once again for this year’s edition, ensuring that the successful series can continue. Through events such as the OLD Masters, the Breeders’ Association creates important opportunities to specifically highlight Oldenburg horses in sport and to promote their development in a sustainable manner.
Anyone who would like to support the work of the Friends of Oldenburg Association and help ensure that the Oldenburg horse continues to be prominently represented in the sport is warmly invited to become a member of the Oldenburg Friends Association. Together, we can continue to create platforms that nurture talent and strengthen Oldenburg equestrian sports for the long term.
