The Oldenburg Foal Auction celebrated a successful debut at the Maimarkt Tournament in Mannheim. A select collection was presented to a high-profile audience, generating significant interest and sparking lively bidding wars.

The top price in the jumping lot went to Lot No. 1, Colette, who was sold for 17,000 euros. This athletic filly is highly recommended for both breeding and competition. Her sire is Chaloubino PS, a two-time Vice-Champion of Germany and successful up to 1.50 meters. The pedigree also combines the top sires Calvaro Z, Baloubet du Rouet, Continue, and Sandro. The maternal line is equally impressive: Catilona, known in competition as Callgirl, was successful up to 1.40 meters with Sebastian Kirst. The dam’s brother, Caxais do Sul, is successful in show jumping up to 1.45 meters. The high-performing mare line includes, among others, PB Stagenta, who was successful up to 1.60 meters under Pia Reich, as well as numerous internationally successful show jumpers.

In the dressage lot, Cat. No. 4 Zaubermaus took the lead and was sold for 14,500 euros. The stunning dressage princess from Zacolar di Mantova’s debut crop impressed with her quality of movement and expression. A bidding duel provided particular excitement, in which Swiss Olympic rider Martin Fuchs also participated; he wanted to secure the foal for his partner, Australian Olympic rider Simone Pearce—but ultimately lost out. Zaubermaus’s dam is a sister to the licensed stallion Walker and the international Grand Prix horse Deep Impact, who has enjoyed success with riders including Severo Jurado Lopez (ESP) and Charlotte Jorst (USA). The dam line has produced numerous other top-level sport horses.

The pony foal Cat. No. 5 Goldmarie was also in high demand, changing hands for 7,500 euros.

The fact that both top-priced horses remain in the region and go to riders who are currently victorious in both disciplines at the Maimarkt Tournament underscores the special connection between sport and breeding at this event, as auctioneer Roland Metz emphasized.

A total of ten foals were sold for a total turnover of 102,000 euros. The average price was 10,200 euros. There was strong online demand, which impressively underscores the successful premiere of the Oldenburg Foal Auction as part of the Maimarkt Tournament.
