The champion stallion of the 15th Oldenburg Saddle Licensing, Besandro Gold, born in 2023, by Best of Gold out of the Elite and State Premium mare Edwina by Sandro Hit, bred and raised by Heinz Ahlers of Hatten, was sold to Australia at the 105th Spring Elite Auction at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta.
The son of former saddle licensing winner Best of Gold, who has since become successful at the S*** level himself, was sold for €100,000. The charming and light-footed young stallion is now available to breeders, as he will fortunately remain at his breeder Heinz Ahlers’ station in Hatten for the time being. His full brother Bugatti Gold OLD is also licensed and has already stood on the podium in S* dressage competitions, while his half-brother Bertolli Gold by Bretton Woods is also impressing in advanced dressage tests. In addition, both of his full sisters were awarded the Oldenburg Main Premium, with Edwina Gold OLD celebrated as the reserve champion mare at the 2024 Elite Mare Show in Rastede. The granddam, Elite and Association Premium mare Elisa, gave birth to the Grand Prix-successful Bellini Gold by Belissimo M as well as two licensed sons, including Special Gold by Sandro Hit, who impressed as a four- and six-year-old in the finals of the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf.
Customers from the United States of America invested €61,000 in the most expensive show jumper. Le Duc, born in 2020, by Levisto out of U-Anakonda S by Acorado, bred by: Matthias Odewald, Breese, owner: Sportpferde Vaske GmbH, Halen, who is already successful in L-level show jumping competitions, comes from the successful line 2067, which also produced the sires Landstreicher, HH Conrad (winner of 1.60 m classes with Grégory Wathelet (BEL)), Canterbury, Canturano I, Aventador S—winner of 1.60 m classes with Marco Kutscher—as well as Caprys—successful at 1.60 m with Christian Kukuk.
It was also particularly gratifying that the licensed stallion Saphir, born in 2023, by Sir Donnerhall I out of Be Fasine by Bretton Woods, bred by: Lewitz Stud, owner: Simona Gerken, Cuxhaven, was sold to China for 65,000. The ultra-modern and light-footed grandson of the champion mare and Bundeschampioness Fasine OLD—who has since won at advanced level and is the sister of ten licensed stallions—is set to continue his career there as a breeding stallion and sport horse.
Interest from international buyers at the Oldenburg Elite Auction was once again high. About one-third of the collection was sold to Oldenburg enthusiasts around the globe. Buyers from Belgium (3), the USA (2), China (2), Poland (1), the Netherlands (1), Spain (1), Austria (1), and Hungary (1) will in future be riding talented horses from this collection. In addition, the champion stallion of the 15th Oldenburg Saddle Licensing was sold to Australia, and a non-licensed stallion to Canada.
The total turnover of the 105th Spring Elite Auction amounted to 1,308,500 euros. The average price for riding horses settled at around 25,000 euros. The licensed stallions cost an average of around 57,000 euros, while bidders paid an average of 37,500 euros for the unlicensed ones.
