At the first Oldenburg Stallion Show held at the Oldenburg Horse Centre in Vechta, three outstanding sires were honoured with the coveted title of Elite Stallion. This special distinction is reserved for stallions that have already proven themselves impressively in breeding and whose offspring have made their mark in top-level sport. In addition, five promising sires were awarded the title of Future Sire – a recognition for young stallions with offspring that have already achieved success in sport.
In the dressage category, two exceptional sires were awarded the title of Elite Stallion: the 2011 Grand Prix winner, Destano (born 2007 by Desperados out of Bella Navonna by Brentano II – Grande), bred by Heinrich Giesselmann, Barver, owend by and stationed at Gestüt Sprehe, Löningen, and Zonik, born in 2008 by Zack out of Romanik by Romanov Blue Hors – Don Schufro, bred by Linette Jaeger, Avlum, Denmark, owend by Glock Horse Performance Center, Austria, stationed at Holstud BV, Lunteren, Netherlands. Zonik leaves behind an impressive legacy: alongside 18 licensed sons, Zantana RS2 OLD NOP, Zum Glück RS2 OLD, Zucchero OLD and Zonik Plus, among others, successfully carry his name into the international dressage arenas. Destano, too, impresses not only in sport but also in breeding: 28 licensed sons speak for themselves. His sporting figureheads include Denoix PCH, who won team gold at the European Championships in Crozet, the Olympic participant Delmonte under Young Shik Hwang (KOR), and the Grand Prix-winning Drombusch OLD with Felicitas Hendricks.
With the title ‘Oldenburg Future Sire’, the focus is deliberately on the future: The award recognises young stallions whose offspring are already performing impressively in age-appropriate classes and whose genetic potential appears particularly promising for the future of breeding.
Among those honoured is Bon Coeur, born in 2012 by Benneton Dream out of Sonnenschein by Sandro Hit – Carismo, bred by Birgit Tietjen, Reeßum Taaken, owned by Lövsta Stutteri, Sweden, stationed at Gerd Sosath, Lemwerder. Bon Coeur has already sired remarkable offspring, including the Oldenburg Champion Stallion Bellany and the Nuremberg Burgpokal winner Maxi Kraft’s Barcelo OLD, who is now competing successfully up to Intermédiaire II under Dorothee Schneider. Bon Courage is also among his promising offspring. Secret, born in 2014, by Sezuan out of Seline by St. Moritz – Rotspon, breeder: Hubert Vogler, Ellwangen, owner: Gestüt WM, Visselhövede, stationed at Landgestüt Celle, was also awarded. His own career is impressive: Vice-Bundeschampion as a three-year-old, Vice-World Champion two years later and finally Bundeschampion at the age of six with Jessica Lynn Thomas (SWE). His offspring are also already making headlines: his son Schatzmeister MZ OLD took an excellent fifth place under Ann-Christin Wienkamp at the 2025 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden.
In the show jumping category, too, an internationally sought-after sire was awarded the title of Elite Stallion: Casallco, born 2011, by Casall out of Zelda IV by Contender – Carthago, breeder: F. Vrenken, Maasbree, Netherlands, owner: Gestüt Lewitz, Steinfeld, station: Paul Schockemöhle Stud, Steinfeld. The Ic-premium stallion from the 2013 OS licensing and later Ib-main premium winner impressed under Philipp Rüping not only in the 1.60 m course but also as a sire. And so he can already look back on 14 licensed sons in Germany. One of them is Cavoiro-H OLD, the 2017 OS Champion Stallion, who is now enjoying success up to S***** level show jumping with the Belgian rider Roy van Beek.
Three further stallions have been recognised as Future Sires and all rank within the top ten per cent of the FN breeding value assessment for young horse trials. The first offspring of these sires are already achieving success in advanced level competitions. Among them is Chacfly PS, born in 2012, by Chacco-Blue out of Shentara by Sir Shutterfly – Cento. Breeder/Owner: Gestüt Lewitz, Steinfeld; Station: Paul Schockemöhle Stud, Steinfeld, who received the Ib main premium in 2018 and is successful in 1.45m show jumping under Leonie Bußmann-Wöhle. Also honoured was Diaron, born in 2012, by Diarado out of the elite mare Lenda-Cara by Come On – Aldatus. Breeder: Manuela Lachnit, Nienburg, Owner: Gestüt Lewitz, Steinfeld, Station Paul Schockemöhle Stud, Steinfeld, who has already achieved success up to S*** level under Alexa Stais, CYP. Completing the trio is the 2016 OS Champion Stallion Zinedream, born in 2014, by Zinedine out of Panam Air by Contender – Landadel, breeder: Gerd Küst, Pinneberg, Owner/Station: Gestüt Bonhomme, Werder, who is successfully competing at 1.60 m level under David Will. All three stallions already have more than half a dozen approved offspring to their credit
