Oldenburg Future Sires

The Oldenburger Future Sire Award was introduced to direct breeding focus toward stallions with offspring achieving success in sport. This accolade is aimed at young stallions listed in the Oldenburg Stallion Directory.

In contrast to the Oldenburg Main Premium, which honors stallions for impressive individual performance and an outstanding first foal crop, the Oldenburger Future Sire Award focuses on recognizing young stallions whose offspring already demonstrate age-appropriate success in sport. Criteria include competition breeding values issued by the FN (German Equestrian Federation). Dressage stallions must rank in the top 10% for dressage, while showjumping stallions must meet HEK breeding values for sport.

How does a stallion become an Oldenburger Future Sire?
The evaluation is based on FN breeding value assessments. Criteria include a minimum number of offspring registered with OL (Oldenburg Dressage) or OS (Oldenburg Showjumping). Offspring aged 2.5 years or older are presented to the Oldenburg evaluation committee during official events, where linear descriptions of conformation and movement/jumping traits are recorded. The focus is on first offspring under saddle, with a maximum age limit of nine years for the oldest offspring. A specific percentage of competition-age offspring must already be successful in competitions.

The value of this award? This award highlights stallions at a relatively young age for their successful offspring and establishes a hallmark of quality for breeders.

At the Oldenburg Stallion Days, each owner of a Future Sire received a €100 feed voucher presented by Equovis representative Nina Fischer.
