
US Americans Secure Top Horses
The top horse of the 12th Oldenburger Special Edition was Mirage, a standout from the dressage collection. The strong-moving dressage pearl by Millennium/Trak. - Fürst Romancier - Lauries Crusador xx - World Cup I was sold by auctioneer Christoph Rowold for €85,000 to a long-time client and Grand Prix rider from Florida, USA. The eight-year-old mare is bred by Beate and Berthold Schmidt from Herleshausen and exhibited by Valencia Caballo SL, Spain. Her granddam Liebe Laura is a sister to four horses with S-level success, including the Grand Prix winner Adventure/Johannes Rüben and Gucci/Wolfgang Schmitz-Heinen.
The second-highest price went to the licensed stallion Sir Weihe GS by Sir Donnerhall I - Apache - Don Schufro - Sandro Hit. Bred by Bettina Hinnemann from Vörde and exhibited by Gorodok Agro Llc, Ukraine, this imposing young talent sold for €73,500 to Australia. His dam, Aweih, is a champion mare and a daughter of Weihegold OLD. His brother, Extra Gold H by Escolar, was crowned champion stallion in 2021.
The most expensive showjumping prospect, selling for €40,000, was the charming and powerful Greta DB, by Glasgow van’t Merelsnest - For Pleasure - Lupicor - Contender. Bred and exhibited by Dietmar Busching from Burgwedel, this five-year-old mare will now call New York home with a loving family. Her brother, Devin AH by Diacontinus, was a premium stallion at his licensing.
18 out of 42 auction candidates were purchased by Oldenburg enthusiasts from abroad. They will bring joy to new owners in the USA (6), Hungary (5), Australia (2), Lithuania (1), Mexico (1), the Netherlands (1), Spain (1) and Tanzania (1). The average price for the riding horses at the 12th Oldenburger Special Edition was approximately €28,000, while the youngster averaged around €12,000, generating a total revenue of €1,065,000.
“The 12th Oldenburg Special Edition marked a successful conclusion to a prosperous auction year, giving us confidence and optimism for the year ahead,” reported Roland Metz, Managing Director of the Oldenburger Pferde-Vermarktungs GmbH.
