Oldenburger Midsummer Festival

The collection of the 11th Oldenburger Special Edition, consisting of sport horses and elite foals, was in high demand among customers worldwide. The top price for the riding horses went to an internationally successful show jumper, while the top foal will cause a stir with an Oldenburg regular customer from Poland.

Price highlight: The powerful jumper Cavallero by Corbin - Livello - Sandro, bred by Stefanie Löw from Osten and exhibited by Jan Grube from Elsdorf, was sold for 46,000 euros to an internationally successful German show jumper. Cavallero’s dam, Limonita, is the sister of the 1.40 m successful Chicago ridden by Linda Heed/Sweden and Chi Chi ridden by Jessica Timgren.

The dressage artist For Tango by For Dance - Antango - Silvio I, bred by Hans-Gerd Hohnholz from Ganderkesee and exhibited by Dr. Eva Wegrostek from Austria, became the top price of the dressage horses. A dressage rider from the USA secured the charming dancer for 30,500 euros. His dam, Famira, is the sister of the Prix St. Georges successful Asgard’s Charry-O ridden by Juliane Brunkhorst.

The average price of the sport horse collection was around 19,500 euros. Sixteen sport horses generated a total revenue of 311,000 euros. Five Oldenburg horses will have international careers, being sold to Belgium (1), Denmark (1), Italy (1), Spain (1), and the USA (1).

The top price of the elite foals is Famoso by Federer - Bordeaux - Sandro Hit, bred by the Freese & Korte breeding community from Visbek. The Oldenburg main premium winner Federer shines as the sire. The dam's sire, Bordeaux, was the 2009 champion stallion and Grand Prix winner with Isabel Freese/Norway, producing a series of Grand Prix horses including Bluetooth OLD under Frederic Wandres. Famoso was sold for 39,500 euros to a regular customer from Poland.

Virtuoso by V-Power - Florenz - De Niro, bred by Fred Bartles from Wardenburg, was sold for 35,000 euros to a renowned dressage stable in Germany. His dam, Daffy Toban FB, is the sister of the Grand Prix successful Friedolin ridden by Hayley Beresford/Australia. From the same dam line come Grand Prix winner Franziskus ridden by Ingrid Klimke and European Championship winner Flamboyant OLD ridden by Valentina Pistner.

Regular customers from a major international dressage stable in the UK secured two Vechta auction foals: Tom Tom by Toto Jr. - Franklin - Fürst Romancier, bred by Vix Equestrian BV from the Netherlands, for 28,000 euros, and Purple Disco Machine PG by Purple Rain - Hampton - Wittinger, bred by Pferdezucht Gauensiek from Wedemark, for 9,250 euros.

The most expensive jumping foal was the filly Lady Cassina by Casino Grande - Diamant de Semilly - Landor S, bred by Sportpferdezucht Uwe & Katja Ehrlich GbR from Meißen. Her dam, Lady Diamantina, is the sister of four licensed stallions: Cador, Diamant de Landor, Calandor, and Comanchero, as well as numerous jumping horses successful at 1.40 m and higher, such as OS champion mare Lady Cadora OLD ridden by Hendrik Sosath. A long-time Oldenburg breeder and visitor of the Oldenburg Summer Meeting from the USA purchased Lady Cassina for 16,000 euros.

In total, 50 auctioned foals generated a total revenue of 457,250 euros. On average, the foals cost 9,500 euros. Nine Oldenburg rising stars will bring joy abroad in the future. Specifically, they were sold to China (3), Poland (2), the United Kingdom (2), Sweden (1), and the USA (1).
