Mit großem Erfolg, wie Flamboyant OLD beweist. Herr Meyer, wie war Flamboyant OLD als Fohlen? War seinTalent damals schon erkennbar? Werner Meyer: „Flamboyant OLD war schon ein Ausnahmefohlen, sehr bewegungsstark und selbstbewusst zugleich. Natürlich haben wir ge- hofft, dass er einmal Karriere machen würde, aber dazu gehört auch immer eine große Menge an glücklichen Zufällen – dass Patrick Deer ihn damals als Fohlen gekauft, immer an das Pferd geglaubt und ihm diese Chancen gegeben hat, dass Marita Pundsack ihn so fabelhaft aus- gebildet und er anschließend den Weg in den Stall von Dressurqueen IsabellWerth gefunden hat, bevor er unter den Sattel eines der größten Nachwuchstalente Deutschlands kam.“ Aus welchen Gründen fiel die Wahl der Anpaarung damals auf den Hengst Fidertanz? „Ich hatte aus dieser Anpaarung Fidertanz - De Niro imVorfeld mehrfach sehr gute Nachkommen gesehen. Zudem hat unsere Stute Diva ihren Namen nicht ganz ohne Grund, sodass mein Ziel war, mit Fidertanz et- was Ruhe reinzubringen. Flamboyant, als erster Fidertanz-Nachkomme aus unserer Diva, war bereits als Fohlen so gut, dass ich diese Anpaa- rung mehrfach wiederholt habe. Während sein Vollbruder in Belgien er- folgreich im Sport läuft, haben gute Bekannte von mir Vollschwestern in der Zucht.“ Was zeichnet den Mutterstamm der Englischen Vollblutstute Daf- fy-Toban xx aus? „Der Stamm der englischen Vollblutstute Daffy-Toban ist ein sehr erfolg- reicher Stamm, sowohl in der Dressur als auch im Springen. Neben dem Dressurstar Franziskus hat mein Kumpel Josef Albers auch erfolg- reiche Springpferde aus diesem Stamm gezogen.“ A t the gates of the Oldenburg Horse CentreVechta,Werner Meyer from Ermke successfully breeds Oldenburg sport horses with me- ticulousness and overview. Like many Oldenburg breeders,Wer- ner Meyer has also used the offspring of the Furioso xx line.With great success, as Flamboyant OLD proves. Mr. Meyer, what was Flamboyant OLD like as a foal? Was his immense talent recognizable then? Werner Meyer: “Flamboyant was exceptional even as a foal, very agile and confident. Naturally we hoped that he would have a career one day, but something like that always largely depends on happy coincidences – that Patrick Deer bought him as a foal, always believed him, and gave him these chances, that Marita Pundsack trained him so fabulously, and that he subsequently found his way to the stable of IsabellWerth before being ridden by one of Germany’s greatest young talents.” What were the reasons for choosing the stallion Fidertanz for breeding at that time? “I had seen several very good offspring from this Fidertanz - De Niro combination. Also, there’s a reason we named our mare Diva, so my goal was to bring in some calm with Fidertanz. Flamboyant, as the first Fidertanz offspring out of Diva, was such a great foal that I repeated this pairing several times more. His full brother is a successful sport horse in Belgium, and friends have full sisters in their breeding program.” What’s so special about the Daffy-Toban xx line? “The line of the English thoroughbred mare Daffy-Toban xx is a very successful one, both in dressage and in show jumping.
