Oldenburg Elite Stallions

24.01.2025

The title of Oldenburg Elite-Hengst (Elite Stallion) is awarded to proven breeding stallions listed in the Oldenburg Stallion Directory, whose offspring have achieved success at the advanced level in sport.

The evaluation for this award is based on the FN breeding value estimation. The criteria include a minimum number of OL- or OS-registered offspring. Some of these offspring must have been presented to the Oldenburg evaluation commission at official events at the age of 2.5 years or older. During these evaluations, linear descriptions of the offspring are created, providing information on the development of their conformation, as well as their movement or jumping characteristics. To focus this award on stallions that are still actively available at stud, the oldest offspring may not be older than 15 years. Additionally, jumping stallions must have a high percentage of offspring actively competing at the S level (1.40 m), with some even achieving success at the S*** level (1.50 m) or higher. For dressage stallions, a certain percentage of offspring must be actively competing at the S level, with some achieving success at Intermediaire II or higher.

The stallions officially bear the title Elite Stallion, a special mark of quality that is also visible in their documentation. This ensures that pedigree awards are no longer reserved exclusively for mares. For our breeders, this provides an additional distinction, allowing them to showcase the offspring of renowned sires in their breeding programs.
